Somatic Nervous System
The somatic nervous system might be regarded as “external” since it involves the sense organs and the skeletal muscles, both located close to the outside surface of the body. The sensory division of the somatic nervous system carries messages from the sense organs, whereas the motor division relays information that directs primarily the voluntary movements of the skeletal muscles.
